Postal / Electronic (email) Ballot – Appointment Committee Elections

We are pleased to share that voting for the Appointment Committee elections is progressing well. A number of votes have already been received. Ngā mihi nui to those who have participated so far.

Our pānui sent last week incorrectly referred to Friday, 25 July as the commencement date of the election process. This was an error — that date is in fact the closing date for votes as stated on your voting papers. We acknowledge this may have caused some confusion. In addition, we are aware that some whānau contact records were outdated, which may have affected some of our whānau receiving timely notice.

To ensure a fair and inclusive process, it has been decided, based on advice from the Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu legal team, to extend the closing date for votes. Voting  will now close on Friday, 1 August 2025 at 5:00 PM.

We encourage all eligible whānau to  vote by this new date. If you have not yet received your voting paper (by email or post), it may be due to outdated contact information. Please contact us as soon as possible at Rāpaki@ngaitahu.iwi.nz to ensure you can vote in the election.  Please also pass this pānui on to your whānau to ensure they are aware and can vote as well.
